Silverlake Vineyard

A working vineyard with a lake, a café and a view of the Khao Chi Chan Buddha, free to wander, 20 km south of Pattaya.

By The Pattaya Insider · travelling to Pattaya since 2009 · updated October 2026

Silverlake is the vineyard you see from the Khao Chi Chan car park: rows of vines on a slope above a lake, with the gold Buddha cliff as the backdrop. It is a commercial winery that has turned itself into a day-out destination for Thai visitors, with a tram tour of the vines, a tasting room, a café, a restaurant and the kind of flower beds and photo props that fill Instagram at weekends. Entry to the grounds is free; you pay for the tram, the wine and the food. It is a pleasant hour, best taken with Khao Chi Chan next door rather than as a trip in itself.

What to do there

Walk the paths between the vine rows and the lake, which is free, and take the tram tour if you want the story of growing grapes in a tropical climate; it ends with a tasting of the house wines and the grape juice, which is the better product. The café does coffee and Thai desserts, and the restaurant on the terrace serves Thai and Western food with the cliff view, which is the real reason to sit down. Weekends bring Bangkok families and the photo-prop areas get busy, so come on a weekday morning or late afternoon.

Combining it with the neighbours

Silverlake sits in a cluster: Khao Chi Chan Buddha Mountain is a five-minute drive, the temple gardens of Wat Yansangwararam about the same, and Nong Nooch Tropical Garden ten minutes further along Sukhumvit Road. A private driver for a half day, around 1,500–2,000 THB from Pattaya, covers all four comfortably; a Bolt or Grab one way is about 400 THB and getting one back from here can take a while, so arrange a return.

Silverlake Vineyard: frequently asked questions

Is there an entrance fee for Silverlake Vineyard?

No, the grounds are free. The tram tour costs around 100–150 THB per person and wine tastings and food are paid separately.

What are Silverlake’s opening hours?

The grounds are open roughly 08:00 to 17:00 daily; the restaurant and bar stay open into the evening. Hours vary with the season, so check before a special trip.

Is Silverlake worth visiting?

As a stop between Khao Chi Chan and Nong Nooch, yes: an hour for the view, a coffee and the tram. On its own it does not justify the 40-minute drive from Pattaya.

Can you buy wine at Silverlake?

Yes. The shop sells the vineyard’s own wines, grape juice and local products; prices are higher than supermarket wine but the juice is good value.
