Frequently asked questions

How do I get to Koh Larn without a tour?

Take the public ferry from Bali Hai Pier at the end of Walking Street β€” 40 THB each way (the fare went up from 30 THB in April 2026), roughly 45 minutes to Na Baan village or Tawaen Beach. Shared speedboats do the same trip in about 20 minutes for 150–300 THB per person.

Which beach on Koh Larn is best?

Tawaen is the biggest and busiest, with restaurants, water sports and chair rental β€” that is where most tours land. For quieter sand, take a songthaew or rented scooter across the island to Samae or Tien Beach.

Is the sea good year-round?

The calmest, clearest water is roughly November to February. In the May–October southwest monsoon the crossing can be choppy and afternoon showers are common β€” tours still run on most days, but check the forecast.

Can children join the speedboat tour?

Yes β€” life vests are provided and the snorkeling stop is optional. The speedboat ride is bumpy at speed, so it suits kids who enjoy a bit of splash; the slower public ferry is the gentler alternative for toddlers.

How much money should I bring for the day?

A beach chair with umbrella runs around 100 THB, drinks and snacks are only slightly above mainland prices, and optional water sports (jet ski, parasailing, banana boat) are typically 500–1,500 THB. Cash is easiest; card acceptance on the island is patchy.
