The Sanctuary of Truth is a 105-metre-high building made entirely of intricately carved wood on the Naklua seafront, under construction since 1981 and still unfinished. It is privately built — started by Thai businessman Lek Viriyaphant — and is best described as a philosophical monument rather than an active monastery. The carvings mix Thai, Khmer, Chinese and Hindu iconography around themes of human purpose; the guided round explains the programme.
How do I get there from central Pattaya?
It is in Naklua, about 15–20 minutes north of Pattaya Beach Road. A Bolt or Grab costs roughly 100–150 THB; songthaews run along Naklua Road, then it is a short walk down Soi 12.
