Frequently asked questions

Where is Nemo Island exactly?

It is a marketing name, not one you will find on a nautical chart — operators use it for a shallow reef area in Pattaya’s outer islands where anemones and resident clownfish are reliable. Exact anchorages vary by operator and sea state. What is consistent is the clownfish, which is what everyone came for.

Will we definitely see clownfish?

Almost certainly — clownfish are territorial and live in their host anemones year-round, so guides know exactly where to look. “Almost” because it is the sea, not an aquarium. Sightings of other reef fish, and the coral’s condition, vary with season and visibility.

I can’t swim well. Can I still join?

Yes — this trip is built for exactly that. Life vests are mandatory, the reef is shallow, and guides stay in the water with the group, often towing a float ring for nervous snorkelers to hold. Tell the crew your comfort level and they will pair you with a guide.

When is the water clearest?

November to February, matching the rest of the Pattaya coast — expect perhaps 5–10 m on a good day. In the monsoon months visibility drops and chop increases; morning departures (which this is) are the calmest window.

Please don’t touch the fish — right?

Right. Clownfish and their anemones are hardy but heavily visited here; standing on coral or grabbing at fish does real damage and good operators will call it out. Reef-safe sunscreen, look-don’t-touch, and fins up over shallow coral — the reef stays worth visiting that way.
