Art in Paradise

Art in Paradise is Pattaya’s 3D "trick art" museum: ten themed halls of floor-to-ceiling murals painted with forced perspective so that, photographed from the marked spots, you appear to dangle from a cliff, ride an elephant through a waterfall, flee a T-Rex or balance on a rope bridge over a gorge. Opened in 2012 by Korean artists and since expanded, it is one of the larger museums of its type in Thailand, sitting on Second Road in North Pattaya close to Terminal 21.

Be clear about what this is: not an art museum in any conventional sense, but an interactive photo studio the size of a department store, and judged on those terms it delivers. The illusions are genuinely well painted, floor markings show where to stand and where to point the camera, and an augmented-reality app animates some works — staff will cheerfully art-direct your poses, and the difference between a flat snapshot and a convincing illusion is entirely in following their angle advice. Visitors who arrive alone and camera-shy tend to leave underwhelmed; groups, couples and anyone with children tend to leave with fifty photos and sore cheeks. Plan 60–90 minutes, longer if your group gets competitive about poses.

Practical notes: entry for foreign adults is around 240–400 THB depending on channel — online tickets undercut the counter, and the Thai-rate dual pricing applies here as at most Pattaya attractions. The museum is air-conditioned throughout, which makes it one of the city’s best midday-heat or rainy-afternoon options, and you will be asked to slip covers over your shoes to protect the floor paintings.
